Eyewitness revealed that the three assailants operating on a motorcycle fired several shots on the deceased police officer while he was exchanging pleasantries with some friends, killing him instantly. According to the eye witnesses, the assailants accosted him and asked if he was Mohammed Ali and he answered in the affirmative. "There and then, they started firing at him and riddled him with bullets at close range as other people who were with him ran for their lives" . "The sound of gunshots scared people away as traders and other business premises were closed amid the confusion, " the sources said. Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Mr Adenrele Shinaba declined comments and story when he was contacted through his GSM phone, saying he is not yet ready to speak to reporters and switched off.
