DJ NEPTUNE JOINS DERENLE AT CHANNEL O
zPopular Disc Jockey Imohiosen Patrick aka DJ Neptune has joined South African-based music TV channel, Channel O Africa.
Neptune now joins the likes of DJs Aludha (Uganda), Mister Deejay (Uganda), Joe Mfalme (Kenya), Crème De La Crème (Kenya), Black (Ghana) and Nigeria’s DJ Caise who are affiliated with the urbane music channel.
‘It’s a good platform for me to expand the brand across Africa. A lot of African countries are plugged in on the Channel O network you know‘, DJ Neptune told NET over the phone.
‘I was approached sometime last year, we’ve just made it official.‘, he adds.
DJ Neptune who doubles as Storm Records artiste Naeto C’s official DJ rose to prominence while working at RayPower FM alongside DJ X-Chris and DJ Naughty Steve.
Read his recent interview with his new family Channel O below…
How was playing on the Big Brother StarGame finale?
That was a great show, it was me in front of the whole of Africa it was a good experience and platform. The rest of the performances were great as well.
How did your collaboration with Naeto C start?
In 2008, I had been invited to play the The Shrine – an annual party that celebrates Stella the king of Afro-beats. I did Naeto’s set and other couple of artists. He came to get my details and called me the next day, because he liked how I was playing. We met, signed the contract and the rest is history.
What does this collabo entail?
Everywhere Naeto performs, I have to be there because I control the music. What we’re trying to portray is the definition of hip-hop, which is turn-tables and a microphone. He is the emcee in front of the microphone and I’m the deejay taking care of the decks – and that’s the only way you can get it right. It’s been a great experience, I’ve been fortunate to travel around, experience different cultures, make friends with different people and listen to new music. That way I’ve been able to develop myself as a mobile deejay.
What’s next on the cards for you?
Just working to put my brand out there. I’m coming out with my own album, Ever Blazing Mixtape (E.B.M.), at the end of the year. I have a couple of songs out and two videos as well. I’m also going to be doing the Bassment Africa. I’m trying to go places and be one of the best in Africa and the globe, I’m tryna’ go places.
What is the sound of E.B.M. going to sound like?
A fusion of Afro hip-hop, dance, R&B hip-hop, I know everyone will like it. I will be dropping another new song at the end of this month and pushing the video
"123..... M.i on the MIC............" yal already knw whazUP ???? It's Dj Neptune
