Born Kolawole Olaosebikan Ayoola popularly known as Sledge among his teeming fans is not too new in the music industry, he's a highly Afrocentric rapper who hails from Ogbomosho North in Oyo state but was raised in the city of Lagos and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Covenant University, Otta. His music is a blend of Hip-hop/Rap, Highlife and Afro beat.
Sledge’s first dabble into rap music was in his secondary school days, with little concentration. But he finally took his music serious in 2005 while he was studying for his A-levels examinations after his uncle advised him to get busy and do something tangible.
Rappers and musicians that shaped his style are Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Eminem and Fela Anikulapo Kuti. He sees necessity as a source of inspiration; meaning he writes when he sees a “need” to write. He has worked with super producer Cobhams Asuquo, Sunny “Masterkraft” Nweke, and has hopped in the booth with artists as Vector and Tim Godfrey.
He is currently promoting his new single, Oga remix. It features guest performances from Ade Piper and Vector. The song is produced by Cobhams Asuquo and has additional production from Sunny “Masterkraft” Nweke.
His main distinction in his style lies in his flows, multiple rhyme schemes, engaging story-telling and comic undertone. He enjoys reading football/soccer articles and music write-ups. When less busy he watches movies.
